Hi I’m Jim Burgess , I have been a member of GWC since 2016 when I bought my first Harley Triglide, having had a very protective mother I was forbidden to have a motorcycle growing up so never did but always loved the look and sound of Milwaukie’s finest. Upon early retirement in 2016 my wife Nicky and I decided we needed an interest so decided to buy a Harley, I tried 2 wheels but as I had left it so late in life just did not feel confident and safe so went to 3 wheels and fell in love with it (as it’s not a motorcycle I feel I haven’t let my mum down). We then joined the GWC and can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we have made, we have met wonderful people and now regard many as firm friends. When in the company of Chapter members I seem to spend most of the time laughing and find myself really looking forward to the next get together.

In my role of Activities Officer I will be working hard for everyone in the Chapter to come up with new and exciting events to enjoy alongside the ride outs and yearly activities such as Hogs in The Hayfields and The Bristol Bike Show. When you think about LOH activities, ride outs, our own activities and other chapters rallies we are always welcome to attend we are spoiled for choice and I for one am grateful for all the opportunities presented by GWC.

The calendar of events will be published in our quarterly magazine ROADHOG and on the GWC Website What’s On page so check for updates especially if you are unable to attend the monthly club night.

It’s great to have a strong and dedicated committee around me (not forgetting the dedication of the ride teams) to help me on my journey.

Above all I wish to help make the activities fun and enjoyable for all ,there is never any pressure to participate and members should feel comfortable to participate as much or little as they like and I would ask all of you if you have any suggestions and ideas for future events and activities to let me know, remember this is your Chapter, I will be at the monthly club nights and most Saturday mornings at Riders of Bristol putting the world to rights with other GWC world experts and professors of life.
